Spring Cleaning Tips TO OrganizE & Declutter Your Home

Spring is a perfect time to clean and clear the clutter. It is a tradition that encourages a fresh (and clean) start to a new season! A clean and organized space gives us peace of mind and can enhance our everyday life. We know what you’re thinking – spring cleaning is not exactly a phrase that fills you with excitement. But, what if we told you that it could actually improve the value of your property?

One of the best ways to protect your home’s value is to maintain it well. A thorough spring cleaning and maintenance routine is a great way to keep your home in tip-top condition. Nikki Farris, an expert in organization and decluttering and owner of local business, Simplify Your Space, shared her suggestions for keeping your space organized, functional and easy to maintain.

Before you even start to think about cleaning, there are some basic things you can do to simplify your space!

NIKKI'S TIPS FOR CLEARING THE CLUTTER

It’s easy to get overwhelmed with how or where to start. Nikki suggests prioritizing one space at a time. What area of your home affects your daily life the most? Start there!

  1. Set a timer for how long you’re going to work on organizing and tidying up the space. It does not have to be an all-day event!

  2. You should have a plan for what you’re going to do with all that “stuff” you’re going to get rid of. Donate it, sell it or trash it? Nikki likes The Resale Shop in Fort Worth. All donations benefit the Center for Transforming Lives.

  3. When deciding whether or not you’re going to keep it, ask yourself if it’s even useful. Does it bring you joy?

  4. Now that you’ve gotten rid of all that stuff, it’s time to deep clean the area. It’s difficult to properly clean around clutter.

Don’t let all your hard work go to waste. Check out Nikki’s website for Eight Habits for Maintaining a Simplified Space.
